Dr Tara Quinn has a passion for bringing the principles of psychology to communities and to help them better understand emotional wellbeing and empower them to manage their wellbeing. She considers herself to be a philanthropist and humanitarian and is involved in a number of philanthropic initiatives to support people around the world. She also runs a number of initiatives in her local community to support emotional health and is involved in the following projects:

Expert Reference Group

Dr Tara is a member of The Expert Reference Group which was formed to review and contribute to a fantastic mental health project by Dr Alys Cole-King wellbeingandcoping.net and the stayingsafe.net about online Safety Plan.

British Red Cross

Dr Quinn-Cirillo is also a Psychological First Aid Responder with the British Red Cross

BPS Special Interest Group for Independent Practitioners (SGIP)

Dr Tara Quinn-Cirillo also holds a position on the British Psychological Society (BPS) Committee for the Special Interest Group for Independent Psychologists. This role involves developing support areas for those psychologists working in independent practice such as training, professional development, clinical governance and peer hubs.

Personality Disorder

Dr Quinn-Cirillo has a longstanding clinical interest in both the assessment and treatment of Personality Disorder. This interest stems to those with a learning disability and how personality disorder is assessed and supported clinically in community settings. She worked for many years with this client group and also focused on working with those people supporting this client group to underhand personality disorder and supporting someone with this diagnosis. This included the development of training packages. She was honoured to be recognised for this work by Dr Max Pickard, Consultant Psychiatrist who along with a team of colleagues has published the first ever training manual for this client group.

Clinical Psychologist Collective

I was honoured to write a chapter for Dr Marianne Trent in her new book The Clinical Psychologist Collective. A book to support people in choosing their applied Psychology career.

Sussex Coronavirus Emotional Support Forum

In March 2020 I started an online support forum for helping local people enhance their emotional health during the Coronavirus Pandemic. I wanted to give something back to the community through my clinical experience to help people manage as best they can with the emotional aspects of a pandemic. The group us still going strong 2 years later as we continue to navigate the ever changing situation. It contains support tools and strategies for anxiety, difficult worrying thoughts, mindfulness and self compassion.
